Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a new rooftop solar scheme to be implemented in 10 million houses across India. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman highlighted potential savings of Rs 15,000-18,000 annually for households installing Rooftop Solar System under this scheme.
The scheme was renamed ‘PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana’ by PM Modi on February 13, promising up to 300 units of free electricity monthly with an investment exceeding Rs 75,000 crore. Subsidies will be transferred directly to consumers’ bank accounts within 30 days of system commissioning.

Net metering is the concept which records net energy between export of generated energy
and import of Utility energy for a billing month. The meter, having
the feature of recording both the import and export values.
If your solar panels make more electricity than you need, net metering lets you send that extra electricity back to the regular power supply.
With a net metering facility, if you have more electricity than you use in the daytime, you can export the extra electricity to the grid and you can adjust it in the eb bill. With the help of this, you can make the electric city bill zero
Some systems work independently (off-grid), and others are connected to the main power system (on-grid). The on-grid ones use net metering.
If you don’t make enough electricity and need more, you can get it from the regular power supply. Net metering helps in balancing both export and import EB power.
The grid-connected roof top solar PV system would fulfil the partial/full power needs of Residential buildings. The following are some of the benefits of rooftop SPV systems:
Generation of environmentally clean energy.
The consumer becomes a generator for their own electricity requirements.
Reduction in electricity consumption from the grid.
Reduction in diesel consumption wherever DG backup is provided.
Feeding excess power to the grid.

Using solar panels on your roof is a great way to capture the sun’s energy. It not only cuts down your electricity bills but also lets you play a part in taking care of the environment. If you’re considering installing solar panels, KCP Solar is one of the most reputed solar panel companies in India.

100% Savings on EB for Residential buildings

Low Maintenance Charges

Environmentally Friendly Option

Property Value Increase
KCP Solar is the best and the engineer Mr. Babu has good knowledge about the solar system and easily explained to customers to understand everyone.
Excellent erection and Commissioning. All the people involved in this project were knowledgeable, experienced, and of excellent behaviour and conduct.
By KCP Solar Company, Salem, I generate 3 KW daily solar electricity at my own house and supply that electricity to the Tamil Nadu Electricity Department, so from paying an electricity bill of Rs.5000/- (bi-monthly), now it is only Rs.300/- I will pay. I will get my investment back in three years (with this low electricity bill). This solar power will help us to reduce our electricity bill. Following me, my friends have also done solar power projects in their own houses. Vignesh working in KCP and Vinod Managing Director of that company are experts in this solar power generation.
Installed 4kw Adani panel with Growatt Inverter and Net Metering. The KCP Solar team provided an excellent installation and service. Their salesperson Babu was very polite and explained everything about the panel and system. Overall satisfactory service was provided by the KCP team. They promised daily production of 16 units for a 4 kW plant. However, the average daily production for the past 4 months is 17 units. Solar with an ongrid system is very useful for residential houses and the KCP Solar team is highly recommended.
By KCP solar industries (Salem), our house has been equipped with 5KW solar system 4 months back. It is generating per day max 29.5 units so far on good shiny day and min 19.5 units in dull day climate and rainy season. For the past EB bill, it came Zero only. The usual wheeling charge Rs 500+ GST came Rs 546 only due to it is running. 250 units in reserve in SEM meter at this moment. As a consumer, I am quite satisfied with its performance. As assured by its Manager Mr.Babu while assigning the job to them, now their system gives 100% efficiency. True!
Overall satisfied with KCP Solar. Almost it took 2 to 3 months to install and complete the net metering EB process for 3KW solar for my home. Around 14 to 16 units are generated per day. Babu from KCP did a clear follow-up on this with a prompt response.
From the day of enquiry they followed us with clear cut quotation with transparent details regarding their products and service, and they followed completely with installation and provided all instructions to us. Now our solar panel started to work. Hope they continue their service after sales. Overall satisfied.
After the inquiry, they provided me with a quotation. Then I decided to go with them. They completed the installation within the scheduled time.
Mr Babu has explained well about Solar panel and battery requirements for our needs. Thank you.
Delivered timely, cost-effective. Service is good. Worth the money spent.
What is PM Surya Ghar muft bijli yojana Rooftop Solar Scheme?
The Rooftop Solar Scheme targets to install solar panels in one crore households to supply power and earn additional money for excess electricity output. This scheme will help poor and middle-class households
What is the latest solar subsidy?
The newly announced PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana provides a subsidy to install solar panels ranging from Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 78,000, depending on the solar plant capacity.
What are the advantages of using solar energy?
Solar energy reduces electricity costs, is eco-friendly, promotes energy independence, and can enhance property value. It’s also a sustainable and renewable energy source.
How much do solar panels typically cost?
Solar panel costs vary based on size, location, and quality. Prices have decreased, and government subsidy options are also available.
Is my location suitable for solar panels?
Solar panels perform best in areas with abundant sunlight. Factors such as shading, roof orientation, and local climate impact efficiency. A solar installer can evaluate your specific location.
What is the lifespan of solar panels?
Solar panels typically last 25 to 30 years or more. While efficiency may slightly decrease over time, they continue generating power for an extended period.
What maintenance do solar panels need?
Solar panels need minimal maintenance. Regular cleaning and occasional checks for damage or debris are advised. Most systems come with warranties covering maintenance for a specific period.
Can I use solar power during a power outage?
You can use solar power during an outage with a battery storage system or backup power solution. However, grid-tied solar systems may automatically shut down for safety during outages.
Are there government incentives for installing solar panels?
Many governments provide incentives like tax credits, rebates, or feed-in tariffs to encourage solar energy adoption. These incentives can vary by location.
What’s the difference between on-grid and off-grid solar systems?
On-grid systems connect to the electricity grid and use net metering. In contrast, off-grid systems operate independently and rely on battery storage for surplus energy when the sun isn’t shining.
Can I install solar panels myself?
While some may install small solar systems, it’s generally recommended to hire a professional installer for safety, compliance, and optimal system performance
